Itinerant crafts and village characters

Periodically people who bought, sold or provided services passed through the village. Here are some of them.

The chair-mender

Another figure awaited by mountain families, the artisan with skilful hands, who repaired chairs, weaving them with straw —«palera»— this one stayed for a long time, as long as all the chairs had not been repaired or remade. He was given food and lodging for the entire period of his stay. To make the chairs he asked for fine and particular wood: ash, chestnut, walnut worked by hand. The most well-known was called Ren, of Venetian origins, who carried the straw on a chair adapted to carry on his back.

Giovannino dalla Busa

He went from house to house to buy women's hair, it was divided into bunches according to type. Many people, in order to have something to eat, cut their hair and sold it, what happened to it is not known, probably for wigs and dolls of those who had more.

Gianin dagli ov

Egg merchant, he bought and resold them, his motto was: «basta scommerciare o sbaioccare» (it's enough to trade or haggle), in fact he often sold for less than he bought, he broke many, surely profit was not his aim, but travelling yes, meeting people, exchanging thoughts.
